Built at the beginning of the 20th century, this European style castle is arguably the most aesthetic structure in Toronto. More than 300 men labored for a period of two-and-a-half years to complete the domestic dream of Sir Henry Pellatt, who would end up paying $3.5 million for his new home, or castle rather, in the heart of Toronto. Casa Loma, which means ”house on a hill,” was built in a mixture of Roman and Gothic-styled architecture, complete with landscaped gardens on and surrounding the property.
